NAPA VALLEY, Calif. – November 7, 2018 – Acumen Wine is excited to unveil a new show featuring the work of renowned Cuban artist Kadir Lopez at the Acumen Wine Gallery in downtown Napa. Since being named one of the “Top Ten Artists to Watch of 2011” by the Huffington Post, Lopez has gone on to earn a reputation as one of Cuba’s most acclaimed artists. His art has been featured in more than 90 shows throughout North America, South America, Europe and China, and is part of numerous private and museum collections around the world, including the Museum of Latin American Art, Sotheby’s Institute of Art and the Richard Guggenheim Collection. The show, which is titled, Havana: 500 Years, runs until January 6, 2019, and includes 77 original pieces, all of which are available for sale.

“Our vision for the Acumen Wine Gallery has always been to create an intimate and inviting venue in the heart of wine country where we can share some of the world’s great art with our guests while they explore our wines,” says Acumen Director of Sales Gordon Waggoner. “Kadir is a visionary artist, and one of the most exciting talents in the contemporary art world. We are incredibly proud to bring a show of this scope and significance to Napa.”

Lopez lives and works in Cuba, and is a photographer, sculptor and painter. He is known for his mixed media art, taking inspiration from different periods in time and often juxtaposing images, text and artifacts in his work. This includes stunning pieces on vintage enamel advertising signs, and works that utilize vintage Cuban neon signs.

Havana: 500 Years is open to the public Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no cost to view the show, but guests are welcome to experience one of Acumen’s three tasting menus during their visit. For guests who wish to marry the worlds of art and great food and wine, the Wine Gallery offers a by-appointment Summit Experience,
which features six of Acumen’s acclaimed PEAK and Mountainside wines, each individually paired with a delicious food accompaniment prepared by wine country Chef Natalie Niksa. Though normally closed on Monday and Tuesday, the Acumen Wine Gallery is also available for private, by-appointment viewings of Havana: 500 Years on those days.
