NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (JANUARY 30, 2020) – As Firefly Distillery, South Carolina’s oldest working distillery, shifts operations to its new home in Park Circle in early 2020, plans are already underway for a grand opening celebration to mark its biggest milestone yet.

“The entire Firefly family couldn’t be more excited that our dream of opening an expanded distillery in Park Circle will soon become a reality,” said Scott Newitt, Firefly co-founder. “We’re honoring our roots and infusing the new distillery experience with the laid back vibe and natural beauty that visitors have come to expect and love. Our new location will also provide a venue for behind-the-scenes tours, expanded production, and memorable events — with our grand opening celebration being among the first!”

Firefly Distillery’s grand opening celebration, which is free to attend and open to the public, will take place at its new 4201 Spruill Avenue location on May 2, 2020 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature a live music lineup, headlined by The High Divers with appearances by Haley Mae Campbell and Hans Wenzel.

Tours of the new 25,000-square-foot distillery will run throughout the day, during which visitors (21+) can learn about the history of Firefly, experience the distillation process and sample Firefly Spirits in the tasting room, including distillery specialties like the new small batch bourbon. Attendees are encouraged to pre-book distillery tours to secure their spot.

The family and dog-friendly event will also feature food trucks including Braised in the South, Jonny Poppers, Greekin Out, and Sweet Lulus; a beer garden featuring local Park Circle businesses Holy City Brewery, Coast Brewing Company, and Tradesman Brewing Company, along with a Charleston Mix Bloody Mary bar. The first 500 people will receive Firefly swag and there will be raffles throughout the day for Firefly Spirits prize packs.

Firefly Distillery has partnered with Water Mission as the official charity partner for the event with a percentage of beer garden sales going back to the organization. Water Mission is a local non-profit making waves around the world, building safe water, sanitation and hygiene, solutions in developing countries and disaster areas. Their missions aligned when both organizations led and supported relief efforts after the devastation from Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas, home to Firefly Sunset Resort.
