Portland, Ore. (March 25, 2020) — Headwind Craft FWD Vodka, a new Portland-made and Pacific Northwest-inspired Vodka, was awarded Gold in the Vodka category at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“It’s a huge honor to win big in our first year,” says Headwind Vodka Founder, Jason Dyke. “There are so many excellent spirits produced in the Pacific Northwest, and we’re excited to represent our corner of the United States with this gold medal.”

Headwind Vodka is made with a high-quality, gluten-free corn based grain which is then six times distilled and filtered through Pacific Northwest timber. The resulting liquid is smooth, crisp, and free of the “burn” commonly associated with vodka.

Over 200 vodkas were submitted to the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition from 30 countries. The competition is one of the most influential, well-respected and oldest blind judging spirit contests in the world, and winners range from large-scale distilling giants to small-batch artisan producers.

“Vodka sometimes gets a bad rap—it’s often not seen as an artisanal spirit. But high-quality craft vodkas are an emerging category, and one we’re proud to be a part of,” says Dyke. “This medal shows us that we’re on to something good, and we’re excited to continue making great vodka for all to enjoy.”

Complete results from the 2020 San Francisco World Spirit Competition will be available on March 30, 2020.
