Hi-Lo Liquor Market Says Hello, Long Beach!
Now Open in Downtown Offering Locals a New Neighborhood Shopping Experience
with More Ways to Celebrate
Los Angeles, CA (December 12, 2019 )–Hi-Lo Liquor Market founders Chris Harris and Talmadge Lowe opened the doors of their second location today in downtown Long Beach on the ground level of The Current on East Ocean Boulevard. The light bright and welcoming 2,400 square foot space designed by Project M + is set to bring the growing neighborhood a new experience in the corner store. The Hi-Lo version of a liquor market marries the best in hand-selected wine, beer, spirits, gourmet foods, gifts, and more. Much like their Culver City location, the new Long Beach Hi-Lo Liquor Market is designed with a beer and wine tasting bar, The Counter; a dedicated special events and tasting area, and a calendar of weekly and special events. The new family-friendly space has eight frequently-rotating craft beers on tap, a Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream case full of almost every flavor, a market stocked with delicious seasonal snacks and staples for grab and go and entertaining, a window-facing hideaway nook, and a breathtaking wall of sprits. It is open daily, filled with friendly trained team members, and welcomes all.
“When we scouted Long Beach for the first time, Talmadge and I felt instantly connected to the hip but down-to-earth and accessible business community which seemed like a great support network. After doing a few “get to know you” events, we were sold by the friendly and enthusiastic vibe of Long Beach residents. It was pretty obvious that it was a perfect spot for Hi-Lo,” shares Chris Harris, co-founder, Hi-Lo Liquor Market.
H-Lo Liquor Market believes in celebrating all moments, large, small and everything in between. Their stores are stocked with thousands of items to do just that, including limited special editions, local small producers, as well as seasonal items. Their expert team members help introduce customers to new craft beers, local wine and a spectrum of small batch spirits. Their selection sources from literally hundreds of vendors to bring a pared down but powerfully relevant and modern selection of craft beer, wines, and spirits.
In 2016, Harris and Lowe saw an opportunity in the market to reimagine the corner liquor store experience that often felt unwelcoming and sometimes even unsafe, and merge it with healthy and delicious grab-and-go market items that celebrated local producers, and provided customers with a fun new experience as well as convenience. While both locations carry many of the same items, each location will have an array of items that are offered exclusively like hyperlocal craft beers, spirits, sundries, and baked goods.
“From beer made less than a mile away to a small winemaker in Santa Barbara, to whiskey made in Ventura, California is experiencing a true renaissance in local and regional wine-making, brewing and distilling these days. There is so much that is unique and excellent coming through our doors and it’s such a pleasure to discover the best of the best and then present our selections to our customers,” adds Talmadge Lowe, co-founder, Hi-Lo Liquor Market.
Hi-Lo Liquor Market in Long Beach kicks off with Wednesdays – Spirit Tastings, Thursdays – Wine Tastings and Fridays – Beer Tastings. The team also will have rotating food trucks outside to join them during the week. Hi-Lo Liquor Market offers delivery, catering and gift service as well.
