19th November – Manhattan, NY – UK-based Tequila Enemigo, winner of five of the most prestigious international awards ANNOUNCES first US arrival of flown in, 500 special edition bottles to New York, available only in select liquor stores across Manhattan and online just in time for holiday period. The brand has teamed up with prestigious Park Avenue Liquor as their primary location online and in-store, and will also be showcasing their tequilas at select private events and tastings in the lead up to the holiday break.

Overwhelming demand led the brand to move the launch to 2018 and fly the bottles direct from the Distillery. Enemigo planned to launch across the US in 2019, but with demand ever increasing, a single 500 bottle shipment was prioritised and flown from the distillery in the heart of Tequila – Mexico, directly to New York just in time. Both Enemigo 89 Añejo-Cristalino (~$75), one of only 34 Añejo-Cristalinos in the world and Enemigo 00 Extra-Añejo (~$165) will be available.

Founder and CEO Robin Clough (29rs) On an incredible first year, tequila worthy to be served at The Ritz and Launching Early:

“We launched in London in September 2017, and since then have won top awards across the globe and have seen our tequilas served at some of the most iconic locations across Europe including The Ritz Hotel and Annabel’s. After receiving thousands of messages from the US, we knew we had to do whatever it takes to get our Tequilas into the country before the holidays which entailed putting them on a plane direct from the distillery.”

Tequila Enemigo Company Overview

Tequila Enemigo was founded by Robin Clough, Sebastian Gonzalez and Max Davies-Gilbert. Robin and Max (American / British – 29) and Sebastian (Mexican – 33) are the youngest founding team of an international luxury liquor brand.

The brand was named Enemigo (Spanish for Enemy) by the founders to further accentuate the brand values of being the enemy of marketing over product quality, which they deemed to be the reason that tequila historically had negative notoriety outside of Mexico.

Enemigo was valued at $5mil in January 2018 and is set to be valued at $20mil  by January 2019.

Within weeks of launching, Enemigo won plaudits globally including Double Gold and Gold at the Global Spirits Comp in Las Vegas, The Master’s Medal in the 2017 Luxury Masters in London and 2 x Double Gold In the China Wine and Spirits Awards in Hong Kong.

Enemigo has partnered with New York based importer MHW to facilitate the launch and growth in US.

“Our first bottle for Europe was focused on elegance and simplicity, the new design keeps those values alive, whilst evolving the design in to something iconic, a design that will continue to raise the profile of tequila in the US, in Enemigo’s unique way.” Sebastian Gonzalez Founder and Managing Director (LATAM)
