This month has all sorts of things going for it: California Wine Month, National Honey Month, and Bourbon Heritage Month. Let’s start the celebrations right with a great National Honey Month idea from Aberfeldy Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

With the intention of raising awareness about the plight of honey bees, Aberfeldy Single Malt Scotch Whisky is excited to bring you the new Herbed Honey Smash cocktail in honor of National Honey Month. In line with Aberfeldy’s Gardening Giveback Project, which connects beekeepers with bartenders to source local honey to be used within Aberfeldy-based cocktails, Aberfeldy is making it easy for all to celebrate this year.

Aberfeldy Honey Smash

Herbed Honey Smash Cocktail Recipe

2 oz Aberfeldy 12 Single Malt Scotch

1.5 oz lemon juice (or about half a lemon, squeezed)

1 oz honey syrup (100g of honey and 64g water, stir and leave to chill. Note: syrup will only last three days)

4-6 leaves of soft herb (basil, mint, tarragon, etc.)

Add all ingredients to a shaker tin with ice. Shake vigorously and strain using a fine mesh strainer into a small rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with your fresh herb of choice and enjoy!

Hint: You can use any soft herb (basil, mint, thyme, tarragon, dill, marjoram, or even cilantro) for different flavor combinations. Also, you can mix and match these flavors for a unique herbed honey smash each time. For more herb flavor, steep your fresh herbs in your local raw honey before making syrup.
