Westwood Estate Wines Selects

Silverado Farming Company To Oversee Annadel Gap Vineyard

Sonoma, Calif.  – Silverado Farming Company has been selected to oversee farming at the Annadel Gap Vineyard in Sonoma Valley, the heart of the Westwood Estate.

Silverado, founded in 2001 by Pete Richmond, works exclusively with small artisan producers producing upper tier wines.  In Napa, the company farms more than 600 acres in growing districts including Pritchard Hill, Oakville, Rutherford, Diamond Mountain, Spring Mountain and Howell Mountain.  Among its top clients are Melka Wines, Dana Estates, Vineyard 29, Lail Vineyards, Stag’s Leap, Vineyard 7 & 8, Round Pond and Bart and Daphne Araujo’s Accendo Cellars.  In Sonoma County, Silverado farms the highly regarded Platt Vineyard in western Sonoma, among others.

Partner Miguel Luna will lead the Westwood team for Silverado.  Prior to being named partner at Silverado, Luna held winemaking positions at Pahlmeyer, Dana Estates, Atelier Melka, Adamvs and Chateau de Fieuzal. He holds a B.S. from University California, Davis in Viticulture and Enology.

Annadel Gap Vineyard is certified by the Demeter Association as Biodynamic™, and consultant Philippe Coderey will continue to work closely with Silverado to assure organic and biodynamic practices continue.

First planted in the northernmost part of Sonoma Valley in three stages between 2001 and 2009, the 22 planted acres of the Westwood Annadel Gap Vineyard feature carefully focused blocks of nine clones of Pinot Noir, four clones of Syrah, and micro-blocks of Counoise, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Tannat, Roussanne and Viognier.
