An homage to the delayed Kentucky Derby 

 

April 29, 2020 – Louisville, KY – Woodford Reserve today released a powerful music video titled “My Old Kentucky Home” that pays homage to the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.

Set at a vacant Churchill Downs, where Derby 146 was scheduled to run this Saturday, it features Kentucky Cellist Ben Sollee playing solo in the Derby Winner’s Circle. The video is here.

The imagery of the iconic Twin Spires — along with vacant stands, track and starting gate — are magnified to create an emotional video that delivers an uplifting, optimistic musical note while looking ahead to brighter days and to the September 5th running of Derby.

In addition to the music video, Woodford Reserve, the Presenting Sponsor of the Kentucky Derby, has joined Churchill Downs to offer Kentucky Derby at Home celebrations on Saturday, May 2nd (on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram: @KentuckyDerby and @Woodford Reserve). NBC will re-air the legendary 2015 Kentucky Derby that began American Pharaoh’s historic Triple Crown run from 3 to 6pm EST.

The Kentucky Derby has been postponed for just the second time in its 146-year history — the first being in 1945 when World War II pushed the race from May to early June.
