SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. – November 14, 2018 – After more than 50 years of focusing on mountain-grown wines from Napa Valley, the Chappellet family is excited to announce the debut of the new Chappellet Grower Collection. The Grower Collection is dedicated exclusively to cool-climate wines from Sonoma County, with an emphasis on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from some of the region’s most acclaimed vineyards. The inaugural 2017 vintage of the Chappellet Grower Collection features seven limited-production Block Designate wines, and two small-lot Vineyard Designates—all of which are made by Chappellet’s longtime winemaker, Phillip Corallo-Titus. To provide a home for the Grower Collection, the Chappellet family has unveiled the beautiful new Chappellet Grower Collection Tasting Room in downtown Sonoma.

“While we have been making Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for many years, the creation of our Grower Collection is allowing us to approach these iconic grapes in a new way, with the focus and passion they deserve,” says Vice President Dominic Chappellet. “Because of our long history in the Northern California wine community we have established great relationships with the growers who farm some of the most revered vineyards in Sonoma County. In these vineyards, we are focusing on small, prized blocks within each site to create a collection of limited-production wines that deserve their own place within our Chappellet portfolio.”

The Chappellet Grower Collection includes Block Designate Pinot Noirs from the Bateman and Apple Lane vineyards in the Russian River Valley, Fedrick Ranch in the Sonoma Coast and Calesa Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap. The Calesa Vineyard is also the source for a Block Designate Chardonnay, as is the acclaimed El Novillero Vineyard in Carneros. The Grower Collection also includes a Viognier from Cold Creek Vineyard, a Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir and Sangiacomo Vineyard Chardonnay.

To accompany the unveiling of the first of the 2017 Grower Collection wines, on October 20th the winery opened its new Chappellet Grower Collection Tasting Room in Sonoma. Located at 27 E. Napa St., Suite A, on the Sonoma Plaza, the Grower Collection Tasting Room was designed by St. Helena-based designer Daniel Hale, in collaboration with designer and artist Molly Chappellet. The tasting room features luxurious lounge-style seating, a tasting bar, warm, rich woods, dark metals, a polished concrete floor, and a beautiful patio seating area. The visual highlight of the space is an abstract art piece made from reclaimed grape stakes from Chappellet’s Pritchard Hill® Vineyard. While the new tasting room will have select wine available from the broader Chappellet portfolio, it will focus on the Grower Collection. Seated tastings are available Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.

“While our Grower Collection wines have their own unique varietal and appellation focus, they share the same vineyard-driven philosophy that has been at the core of Chappellet’s success for more than half a century,” adds Dominic. “These are Chappellet wines. Our family’s name Chappellet is a statement of quality—it says that these are exceptional wines from remarkable vineyards.”
