GAMBERO ROSSO, ITALY’S WINE AND FOOD AUTHORITY,

ANNOUNCES 2020 U.S. “TRE BICCHIERI” TOUR DATES

Two Weeks, Six U.S. Cities and Endless Opportunities for Wine Trade and Media Professionals to Mix and Mingle with Vintners and Winemakers from more than 200 Top Italian Wineries

Los Angeles, Calif. (January 2, 2020)– Gambero Rosso, the Italian-based media company founded in 1987 and a noted authority on Italian wine and food, returns to the U.S. in early 2020 for its annual invitation-only Trade & Media Tour featuring wines that received the conveted “Tre Bicchieri” designation in the company’s famed, annual Vini d’Italia (Italian Wines guide). The Vini d’Italia, released each fall, is the ultimate guide to Italian wines, with 60 expert tasters ranking more than 2,400 producers and over 40,000 wines.  Less than one percent of all wines reviewed receive Tre Bicchieri status.

Kicking off February 24,  the tour features four Tre Bicchieri stops in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The events are invitation-only and are restricted to media professionals and current wine trade members. Attendees have the privilege of sampling the highest rated wines in Italy from more than 200 wineries.

Miami and San Diego will feature the “Top Italian Wines Roadshow” as well as the “Vini d’Italia Experience,” Gambero Rosso’s much-anticipated annual anthology featuring reviews of some 22,000 wines by a juried panel of 53 experts. The tour also includes Gambero Rosso Academy, a series of small-group Master Classes offering a deeper regional education and led by Marco Sabellico, senior editor of the Vini d’Italia and Lorenzo Ruggeri, editor of Top Italian Restaurants. Upon completion, participants are presented with a certificate acknowledging their attendance and newly-acquired expertise.  Courses will be announced in December and will be offered at select tour locations.

The tour also marks the launch of Gambero Rosso’s 2020 English-language digital global guide to the Top Italian Restaurants. Ruggeri will present awards honoring the best Italian restaurant in each U.S. tour city.  The Top Italian Restaurants guide is available at gamberorosso.it/restaurants/.
