The University of Adelaide has developed a mobile app, called PMapp, to help grape growers assess powdery mildew in their vineyards. PMapp lets users visually assess the severity of powdery mildew by comparing their fruit to computer-generated images. Disease data can be entered onsite, emailed and analyzed later, with GPS coordinates and other pertinent data recorded for quick reference. A suite of online resources can be used to train or up-skill personnel and students.

In addition to its original intent, PMapp is also proving useful for bunch rot assessment. PMapp debuted Down Under in 2015 but is now available in Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
