Petaluma, California – On October 24, 2019, Adobe Road Winery Founder and CEO Kevin Buckler kicked off an exciting new chapter for his 18-year-old boutique Sonoma winery, inviting all of Petaluma to celebrate as he and the team officially broke ground on Adobe Road Winery’s highly-anticipated future winery and entertainment complex.

Kevin and Adobe Road Winery staff were joined for a ground-breaking ceremony at the future site, located on the corner of 1st St. and C St., by Petaluma Mayor Teresa Barrett, members of the City Council, Chambers of Commerce, investors, the construction team, and wine club members. When it opens in the fall of 2020, the 16,000-square-foot downtown riverfront facility will feature a state-of-the-art winery production facility, beautiful tasting room with outdoor fire pits, outdoor pizza oven, a 120-person banquet facility, upstairs VIP area and party deck, a motorsports museum and a full spectrum of additional entertainment and hospitality offerings.

Kevin and his wife, CFO Debra Buckler, started Adobe Road Winery in the heart of Sonoma County in 2002. Their goal – to craft wines that exemplify the true essence of California’s most revered winegrowing regions and eventually to build out a winery project that would be innovating and exciting. After examining the wine hospitality landscape in Napa and Sonoma, Kevin & Debra settled on downtown Petaluma for their future home. An already-thriving community on the brink of exploding, Petaluma’s riverfront area has recently experienced renewed interest and redevelopment. Adobe Road Winery’s new facility will be a focal point of the community, attracting wine and car lovers for a tasting experience unlike any other.

“We fell in love with the Petaluma community, its old world atmosphere and authenticity—it just feels right for us.” Kevin said. “It’s not very often that a small business could potentially help guide a small amount of directional strategy to a city. We are the first winery in the downtown area, just as Petaluma is taking off. Our facility will have something for everyone – whether you’re a wine lover, car enthusiast, or looking for a great facility for staging an offsite retreat—Adobe Road Winery will offer something that appeals to you. Petaluma has been coming on strong and we want to continue that momentum and present the city as a fantastic and convenient alternative to other areas in the wine country.”

Easily accessible from the Bay Area at the gateway to Sonoma & Napa wine country, the excitement for Adobe Road Winery’s future wine and entertainment oasis is shared by the local community. “The support Adobe Road Winery has already given this community, and will continue to give to this community with the new facility, is what’s going to continue to make Petaluma evolve,” said Petaluma Mayor Teresa Barrett. “A wine tasting room and a race car showroom in your own town. Who else has that?”

Another Petaluma dignitary—Onita Pellegrini, CEO of the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce, expressed her support of the exciting new project and its impact on the local community: “There’s an energy in Petaluma we haven’t seen in a long, long time. Partners like Adobe Road is what’s bringing it. This is going to be a tourist destination but it’s also going to be a community place.”

While awaiting the opening of Adobe Road Winery’s entertainment center in the fall of 2020, visitors can schedule tastings at the winery’s current tasting room at the Great Petaluma Mill. For further information about Adobe Road Winery, please visit www.adoberoadwines.com.
