There’s a reason the whiskey sour is one of the most popular cocktails on the planet. First, it’s an easy one to make, but it also lends itself to a bartender’s creativity. The basic mix is whiskey (bourbon is the one most often used), simple syrup, and lemon juice. Some people like to add an egg white or even sweeten it up with apple liqueur or give it some color with red wine. Whatever you choose, simply shake the ingredients in a cocktail mixer and then pour over ice in a rocks glass, or up in a chilled martini glass. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry, and you’re good to go.
