Small Batch Distillery, Fernie Distillers has launched their first limited release seasonal product, 5th & Park Damson Gin.
5th & Park Damson Gin stars damson plums picked within walking distance of the distillery and supports initiatives to keep bears safe around the community.
The Damson Gin is the fledgling company’s fourth product and complements their No. 9 Mine Vodka, Fernie Fog Liqueur and Prospector Gin.
The limited release damson gin was the brainchild of owner/distiller Jillian Rutherford, who was interested in removing fruit from trees in the fall in an effort to minimize bear attractants within the small town of Fernie BC.
Jillian said: “Having a fruit tree in bear country is a big responsibility. Supporting local programs such as the Fernie Apple Capture and WildsafeBC initiatives are important to us and we are fortunate to be able to create a quality product too.”
5th & Park Damson Gin was named for the Fernie gardens where the plums were picked and continues the tradition of local influences on product names.
Jillian continues; “There is a story behind all of our products and we enjoy sharing with anybody who has an interest in local history and culture.”
This seasonal release was produced in limited quantities and is available to taste and purchase at Fernie Distillers along with their No. 9 Mine Vodka, Prospector Gin, Fernie Fog Earl Grey tea-infused Liqueur and a host of unique cocktails.
Fernie Distillers is the first distiller in Fernie BC and produces small batch craft spirits that capture and celebrate the historical spirit of Fernie. Located on 1st Ave in Fernie BC, Fernie Distillers operates a tasting room where visitors can learn about the distilling process and sample the range of products.
Issued on behalf of Fernie Distillers by Birr.
