Charles Krug Winery Announces Renewed Sponsorship of Napa Valley Film Festival
Historic Napa Valley Wine Estate to Act as Leading Sponsor and Host
Napa, Calif., October 30, 2019 – Charles Krug Winery (www.charleskrug.com/), Napa’s oldest winery and home to the first tasting room in California, is pleased to announce its renewed participation in the 2019 Napa Valley Film Festival (http://nvff.org/). From November 13-17, the great estate in St. Helena will once again be the leading sponsor for the festival that features 75 independent films spanning 8 categories, 50 participating chefs and restaurants, along with over 80 wineries from around the region. Charles Krug’s iconic estate, founded in 1861, will host screenings of festival films throughout the weekend as well as host two exclusive events; Variety Magazine’s inaugural Film to Table tasting and event and the Charles Krug Winery Vintner’s Circle Dinner.
A continued leader and innovator in Napa Valley hospitality, Charles Krug’s relationship with NVFF is part of ongoing efforts by the Great Estate to act as a hub for cultural activities in the region. “The Napa Valley Film Festival has long been a wonderful partner to Charles Krug and we are honored to participate in the festival once again.” says Charles Krug’s co-proprietor Peter Mondavi Jr. “Charles Krug’s long standing relationship with the festival is a result of our continued commitment to fostering cultural activity in Napa Valley. We recognize that great wine can be paired with many wonderful experiences that add to the cultural richness of our great community.”
“It is an honor for the team at the Napa Valley Film Festival to be so generously supported by Charles Krug Winery and Peter Jr. and Katie Mondavi. Our audiences are constantly amazed and overwhelmed by the winery’s historic venue, intimate movie-going experience, and exceptional food and wine pairings. Without their gracious support, the Napa Valley community would not be able to celebrate the cinematic arts in such a warm and welcoming environment,” says NVFF CEO Tom Tardio.
The festival, founded by non-profit organization Cinema Napa Valley in 2009, is slated for another successful year of programming at the Charles Krug location, with an acclaimed list of films on the docket and the noteworthy addition of Variety’s Film to Table event. Full-length features like The Nomads and The Way You Look Tonight are set to be shown in the historic 200-seat venue. The festival will kick off at Charles Krug at 1:30 p.m on Wednesday, November 13 with a screening of Come As You Are. Other notable screenings taking place in the historic Carriage House throughout the four day festival include:
Thursday, November 14 at 5:30 p.m. – Only

Charles Krug is thrilled to host Variety’s Film to Table event on Thursday, November 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chefs from Napa Valley’s finest wineries, including guest Charles Krug Chef Tony Spleen, will gather in the Redwood Cellar to showcase their masterful interpretations of dishes inspired by iconic film scenes. This event presents a unique opportunity to meet the chefs, sample their creations and engage in an interactive discussion with celebrity panelists about the beautiful intersection of food and art and its role in film.
Charles Krug will also play host to an elegant Vintner Circle dinner on Friday, November 15 from 7:30 p.m. – 10 p.m. Each year, NVFF Patron Circle members and VIP guests are invited to partake in the exclusive Vintner Circle Dinners. Guests of Charles Krug will join members of the Mondavi family for an intimate evening dining in the heart of the Napa Valley’s oldest winery – The Redwood Cellar that dates back to 1872. The impressive setting provides a fitting backdrop for the equally superlative cuisine of Napa Valley Chef Tony Spleen. Back by popular demand, Tony’s menu highlights fresh, sustainable ingredients from local purveyors, exquisitely paired with Charles Krug’s finest Limited Release wines.
Along with its current wine releases, the winery will once again be offering film goers daily access to their beloved wood-fired pizza selections and handcrafted Italian-style salumi and cheese plates. These quintessential Charles Krug offerings add a signature Napa Valley flair to the audience viewing experience.

About Charles Krug:
In 1943 Italian immigrants Cesare and Rosa Mondavi purchased the historic Charles Krug property the oldest winery in the Napa Valley and longest-running tasting room in California. The brand was built on a foundation of family values, hard work and a European winemaking tradition; it remains a family-owned winery today, producing estate-driven, top of the line Napa Valley wanes. The wineries are under the direction of Peter Mondavi Jr. and Marc Mondavi, who steward the family business passed to them by their father, legendary Napa Valley wine icon Peter Mondavi Sr. The family is now proudly welcoming members of the fourth generation to the business, continuing a legacy started over 70 years ago and setting a foundation for generations to come.
