RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY, Calif. – May 6, 2020 – Emeritus Vineyards is excited to announce that it is launching a series of educational webinars for wine industry professionals beginning May 14th at 11 a.m. EST (2 p.m. PST). The first webinar will feature an exploration of the terroir of Emeritus’s acclaimed Hallberg Ranch vineyard. The seminar will focus on where Hallberg Ranch fits into the Green Valley and Russian River Valley AVAs. The seminars, which will be hosted on Zoom, will include an educational presentation, followed by a Q & A. The webinars will be hosted by Emeritus’s second-generation President Mari Jones, and feature renowned Emeritus Winemaker David Lattin and legendary Vineyard Manager Kirk Lokka. The second seminar is scheduled for May 28th, and will focus on the importance of Pinot Noir clonal selections and how they impact wine styles.

“There is a great deal of focus right now on new ways for wineries to engage consumers,” says Jones. “We feel it’s equally important to connect with our community of friends and partners in the industry. Our vision for these seminars is to be interactive and share knowledge that is useful and informative. And like everything I do, I want them to be engaging and fun.”

The first two webinars will feature David Lattin and Kirk Lokka. Prior to joining Emeritus, Lattin was the winemaker at such noted wineries as Acacia, Kuleto Estate and Merus. Lokka, who has more than four decades of vineyard management experience in Sonoma County, spent 23 years working with Emeritus Founder Brice Cutrer Jones at Sonoma–Cutrer before establishing Emeritus with Jones 21 years ago. During his career, Lokka helped to found, and was a two-time president of, the Russian River Valley Winegrowers association, and was honored for his work at Emeritus by the Sonoma County Winegrowers as the “2017 Grower of the Year.” During the first webinar, guests will learn about the unique terroir of Emeritus’s dry-farmed Hallberg Ranch, with Lattin and Lokka providing insights on their unique attributes, and why they are ideal for Pinot Noir.
