MEZZACORONA CELEBRATES FARMERS, SUSTAINABILITY AND TRENTINO

Italy’s Largest Estate-Grown Winery Heralds the Homeland of Pinot Grigio, Its Estate Growers, and 114 Years of Heritage with a New Look

NEW YORK (March 27, 2018) – This month, Mezzacorona – makers of the original estate-grown and estate-bottled Pinot Grigio – celebrates its family of growers, dedication to sustainability and 114 years of heritage and tradition with a brand new look for the 2017 vintage. This long history and commitment to producing consistently high-quality grapes – grown in the ideal, Alpine climate of Trentino and 100 percent hand-harvested by multigenerational estate farmers – represents the pinnacle of Trentino DOC Pinot Grigio in Italy. This careful preservation of quality and the authentic essence of Trentino in every bottle belies its suggested retail price of $11.99 and makes it the best value in super premium Pinot Grigio.

Established in 1904 by 11 vintners, Mezzacorona comprises more than 1,600 wine growers and is the largest estate-grown winery in Italy – as well as one of the leading certified sustainable wineries in Europe. These dedicated farmers, hand-harvesting the estate grown grapes in a region where mechanically harvesting fruit is more common, are central to the high-quality standards set over a century ago by Mezzacorona. The new look – which will also roll out on the brand’s full line of wines later this year – offer a tribute to these passionate growers by depicting them in gold print on the labels.

Another mark of merit fundamental to Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio is the Trentino DOC designation, which identifies a commitment to preserving quality and the authentic essence of this region. Known for its alpine climate, a wide difference in day and night temperatures, limestone soil, and low humidity levels, Trentino offers the ideal environment for growing Pinot Grigio grapes.

In addition, Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio now boasts the SQNPI Qualita Sostenibile certification, the seal of sustainability from Italy’s national system for integrated production quality. This certification is the result of decades of putting safety and sustainability at the core of Mezzacorona’s philosophy. Mezzacorona’s commitment to environmental sustainability means following strict protocols that include a guarantee of perfect traceability of each batch and bottle, and an assurance that the wine comes from the grapes that have been controlled and certified by the SQNPI.

“We want to celebrate all of the elements – our history of dedicated estate growers, commitment to quality and our home in the birthplace of Pinot Grigio – that make our wines truly special” says Mezzacorona CEO Fabio Maccari. “The SQNPI certification is a clear indicator of our commitment to sustainability, and in highlighting the families of growers on our new labels, we are telling our story, which is one of authenticity, beauty and value.”

The 2017 Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio Trentino DOC is on shelves now and has a Suggested Retail Price of $11.99; 12.5% ABV.
