LAKE BLUFF, IL, JANUARY 2020 – Riazul Imports, producers of Riazul Tequila and Riazuleño Mezcal, have introduced their limited-edition Extra Añejo Tequila to select markets in the United States. The first production run was limited exclusively to 500 cases for distribution solely in the US and Mexico. Each limited-edition bottle of Riazul Extra Añejo Tequila is hand-numbered and presented in a wooden gift box.

Crafted from 100% blue agave, Riazul Extra Añejo Tequila has aged a total of four years. After resting in American Oak Bourbon barrels for three years, Extra Añejo spends an additional year in Oloroso Sherry casks from Spain. This innovative and lengthy aging process encourages Extra Añejo to develop opulent and harmonious aromas and flavors. A lovely and eye-catching shade of amber, Riazul Extra Añejo Tequila has vibrant vanilla aromas. On the palate, its initial flavors of sweet agave are seamlessly followed by ripe fruit, and spice on the elegantly finessed finish.

Founded and launched in 2008 by Iñaki Orozco, Riazul is a 100%-agave range sourced from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. Riazul’s tequilas include Plata (silver) aged for 15 days in neutral oak barrels, Reposado that is aged for nine months in French and American oak, and Añejo that ages for two years in French Troncais Oak Cognac casks. Their Riazuleño Mezcal, which means “from the family of Riazul”, is produced from a single estate in the foothills of San Dionisio Ocotepec, in Oaxaca, Mexico.

“We consistently craft our tequila with an unapologetic blend of traditional and unconventional methods, aging each variety longer than others in their class. Because our mission is not simply to make the best tequila we can from what the land gives us, but to make tequila our way” said Iñaki Orozco, Founder of Riazul. “In the case of the development of the Riazul Extra Añejo, we aimed to deliver a product that deepened our consumers’ relationship with Riazul.”
