A festive and fun expression from the award-winning Irish-American distillery

Ballina, County Mayo, Ireland | February 12, 2018 – Raise a glass to exuberant moments that become enduring memories with Ballyhoo Irish Whiskey, a 4-year old grain whiskey that is finished in port barrels from The Connacht Whiskey Company Ltd. available in the U.S. starting in March of 2018.

Hand-bottled at Connacht’s distillery in the rugged west of Ireland, Ballyhoo Irish Whiskey (43% ABV) embodies the best of the word’s meaning: an exclamation of triumph over the rival team; a rallying cry between lifelong friends; a toast to a difficult journey or a hard-fought victory. Ballyhoo begins as a sourced Irish whiskey with a mash bill of 93% corn imported from France and 7% malted barley that we bring to our distillery to further age and finish in used port barrels from Portugal. This second step softens the grain whiskey and rounds out the flavour into an easy sipper. We do not add artificial color or caramel, so the product remains quite light in appearance, but with some reddish undertones from the port.

almond mixing with some warming spice and sweetness.

Palate: You get some nice notes of vanilla with some hints of spice and subtle wood from the bourbon casks, but the additional port finishing softens the whiskey. It lingers long, warm and ever so smooth despite being light in body. It is perfect neat, on the rocks or in a cocktail.

Connacht is not sacrificing quality for cost with Ballyhoo, which is attractively priced at $29.99. Until it has sufficient stocks of its own 4-year-old whiskey, Connacht has sourced premium whiskey from other Irish distillers and then re-barrel it in used port barrels on site in their aging warehouse to further enhance the taste and finish. The final whiskey is hand-bottled under the guidance of Connacht’s Master Distiller, Robert Cassell.

Ballyhoo Irish Whiskey will be available in 750 ml bottles this Spring in NY, NJ, PA, MD, DC, DE, MA, and IL. MSRP is $29.99.

Four other Connacht products currently available in many states throughout the U.S. include: Conncullin Irish Gin; Brothership Irish-American Blended Whiskey; Straw Boys Irish Vodka; Straw Boys Irish Poitin; and Spade&Bushel 10 Year Old Single Malt Cask Strength Irish Whiskey.
