With the bar and restaurant industry so gravely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, California-based Gray Whale Gin has announced an initiative to support the many bartenders who are out of work. Bartenders interested in working a “shift” at Gray Whale’s Virtual Bar can submit an original cocktail recipe that brings the brand’s unique Californian botanicals to life—getting people back to doing what they love.

Selected bartenders will be paid $350 for their “shift,” which includes creating social content for their original cocktail. Over the next 15 weeks, Gray Whale Gin will celebrate each bartender and their creation on Instagram (@GrayWhaleGin).

This initiative is open to U.S.-based bartenders only. There is no purchase necessary; selected bartenders will receive a bottle of Gray Whale Gin with which to craft the cocktail. Submit cocktail recipes (name of cocktail, ingredients and method) along with your name, where you are from, and Instagram handle to info@gsdspirits.com for consideration.

The first shift started yesterday, 4/2, with more to follow in the coming weeks.
