Dessert cocktail enthusiasts, this one’s for you! The Brandy Alexander is said to have been created in the 1920s, and to have been John Lennon’s drink of choice. So what makes it special enough to have its own day? It’s easier than pie, that’s why.


1.5 oz. brandy

1.5 oz. crème de cacao

2 oz. heavy cream


Chill a martini glass with ice and water. Put brandy, crème de cacao, and heavy cream in a cocktail shaker that’s half-filled with ice. Shake vigorously. Remove ice and water from martini glass. Strain cocktail mixture into chilled glass. Garnish with nutmeg. Ta da!
