Lonerider Spirits, a growing local distillery that crafts spirits for outlaws by outlaws was awarded five medals this week at the Sip Awards for their bourbon whiskey finished in Deadwood Casks and their Choklat liqueur. They also received a silver medal for their canned Whiskey Mule and a double gold for their Single Barrel Bourbon finished in Deadwood Casks, which will be released at a future date.
The SIP Awards are unique since a spirit is judged by consumers, not industry insiders, brand owners, or representatives. The SIP Awards carefully selects a diverse judging panel based on demographic information to capture the opinion of the general public. Industry experts, brand owners, or spirit industry affiliates are barred from participating in the SIP Awards judging panel with no exceptions.
“We have been working hard to continue expanding our spirits offerings at Lonerider,” says Chris Mielke, President of Lonerider Spirits. “The fact that the SIP awards are judged by consumers and the general public lets us know that we are heading in the right direction and making great products. Our Deadwood Cask Finish Bourbon was the first collaboration with our sister company Lonerider Brewing, so to see that bring home the Gold is especially rewarding.”
Lonerider Spirits has also won a gold medal from the ADI (American Distilling Institute), gold and bronze medals from the SFWSC (San Francisco World Spirits Competition), a bronze medal from the ACSA (American Craft Spirits Association), bronze and silver medals from the New York International Spirits Competition as well as being named “NC Bourbon Distillery of the Year” in 2019.
Lonerider Spirits also recently released a Tequila Cask Finish Bourbon. It is currently the only bourbon finished in Tequila Casks on the market and has quickly become a favorite of Outlaw bourbon drinkers.
