(OREGON CITY, Ore. –– April 7, 2020) –– 503 Distilling took home four medals from the American Distilling Institute (ADI) Judging of Craft Spirits Awards, which were announced earlier today. The Oregon-based company received one gold and one silver for its certified craft distilled spirits; and one silver and one bronze for its certified craft blended spirits.

Founded in 2007, the Judging of Craft Spirits Awards is the oldest and largest competition dedicated to craft spirits. A panel of 50 judges and 15 stewards annually sample around 1,000 craft spirits to recognize the distillers and blenders that are producing the world’s finest quality artisan spirits.

“We’re incredibly honored to have received four medals from the renowned ADI competition,” said David Schleef, co-owner of 503 Distilling. “It’s gratifying to have the innovation and creativity we bring to our handcrafted spirits acknowledged and rewarded.”

503 Distilling received a Gold Medal – Certified Craft Distilled Spirit for The Bloodhound, a canned craft cocktail made by infusing 503 Vodka with dried grapefruit peel and grapefruit essence, then blending it with fresh blood orange puree, grapefruit juice, and lime to create a refreshing cocktail with zero added sugar. ADI awards a gold medal to a spirit that the judging panel believed to be of exceptional quality for its class and category.

The Oregon distillery took home a Silver Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit for its Five-0-Tea. The company’s newest craft cocktail, Five-0-Tea starts with 503 Vodka and adds more than 30 pounds of loose-leaf tea, fresh squeezed lemons, and a tea-infused simple syrup from Portland Soda Works. The result is a light, refreshing drink that rivals any Arnold Palmer.

503 Distilling also won a Silver Medal – Certified Craft Distilled Spirit for its Circa-17, a gin made with 17 different botanicals twice distilled through fresh Oregon juniper, creating an 86 proof gin that’s complex and spicy with a dry finish.

According to Schleef, “Circa 17 Gin really started off as a side project, as we’ve been primarily focused on filing the demand for our canned cocktails. We’re honored that the hard work of our distillers and the many hours spent on our small batch pot still have resulted in an amazing gin with national recognition.”

The ADI awarded 503 Distilling a Bronze Medal – Certified Craft Blended Spirit for its La Vida Mocha, a canned craft cocktail that combines cold brew coffee from Riff Cold Brew Coffee of Bend, Oregon, with Mexican chocolate, and cinnamon-infused rum.

The ADI is the largest community of small-batch, independently owned distilleries in the nation. Founded in 2003, ADI has become a beacon for the craft distilling community, serving as the go-to source for all information on craft distilling.

503 Distilling distributes its craft spirits and cocktails throughout Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho. Learn more at 503distilling.com and engage on social media at @503Distilling.
