(Austin, TX)– Still Austin Whiskey Co.announces the addition ofa new member to their family of products with the release of Texas Rye Gin. Made from a unique base of rye grains, the spirit is distilled in small batches in a copper pot still, and is Texas’ first Rye Gin.

“We knew the rye going into our whiskeys had a lot of heart and we wanted to let that shine in a new way,” said Andrew Braunberg, General Manager of Production for Still Austin Whiskey Co. “Most distillers work with a neutral base spirit like vodka as their gin base but we took a different route. We selected botanicals that would build on and complement the unique base for our Texas Rye Gin.”

Still Austin Whiskey Co.’s Texas Rye Gin delivers spice as well as soft floral and citrus notes with an earthy character. Sweetness is balanced by notes of herbaceous allspice and cinnamon. Featuring botanicals of juniper berries, coriander seeds, citrus peels, elderflowers and allspice berries, the gin greets the palate with an initial brightness and creamy mouthfeel followed by a warm finish.

“Gin is having a resurgence in the U.S. We’re really excited to bring Texas Rye Gin to market as another Still Austin product that’s in line with our approach and dedication to local Texas grains,” said Chris Seals, CEO of Still Austin Whiskey Co.

Craft spirit enthusiasts can also anticipate the release of additional diverse spirits including a Barrel Aged Texas Rye Gin finished in rye bourbon barrels. Still Austin Whiskey Co. hopes to release its first aged whiskey products later this year.

Texas Rye Gin is available for purchase at both the distillery and select retailers in both Austin and San Antonio, Texas, as of Saturday, June 16.
