The first premium tequila from Moēt Hennessy takes home medals in the
New York International Spirits Competition, The International Review of Spirits,
San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and World Tequila Awards

(MAY 29, 2019 NEW YORK, NY) – Volcan de mi Tierra has accepted eight medals of excellence in the midst of a competitive circuit of spirit awards in 2019. An emergent luxury spirit brand conceived in May 2017, Volcan de mi Tierra was distinguished this year for its two premier expressions, Blanco and Cristalino, at New York International Spirits Competition, The International Review of Spirits, San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and the World Tequila Awards. Continuing to cultivate quality with its product and brand, Volcan de mi Tierra progresses on the recognition and numerous gold medals acquired in its first year.

On April 14 at the 10th annual New York International Spirits Competition, a panel composed of trade-only judges assembled to evaluate over 600 submissions of spirits from 29 countries and over 60 countries. The panel awarded Volcan de mi Tierra’s Cristalino a Silver medal with a 92 point rating and a Bronze medal to Blanco with an 89 point rating.

The next day on April 15, Volcan de mi Tierra continued to receive international accolades for both Blanco and Cristalino expressions when presented the Silver Medal for both categories at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). Renowned in the industry for its integrity and impartiality, the SFWSC has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world. With nearly 3,000 spirits being judged, the competition received the largest number of entries in their 19-year history.

In May at the International Review of Spirits as reviewed by the Beverage Tasting Institute (BTI), the Cristalino expression was awarded the Gold medal with an exceptional score of 92 of 100, while Blanco was awarded the Bronze medal. Established and founded in 1981, BTI has produced over 30 years of fair, impartial wine reviews for consumers, which expanded to include beer and spirits.

Also in May, the World Tequila Awards bestowed Volcan de mi Tierra Blanco the Silver medal for Best Blanco Tequila in tandem with Cristalino’s accolades with the Bronze medal in the category for Best Añejo Tequila. Functioning under the World Drinks Awards where the globe’s finest spirits, wines, beers, and ciders are judged in categories for taste and design excellence, the World Tequila Awards recognizes the best tequilas internationally.

“We are incredibly thankful to the support and acknowledgement that Volcan de mi Tierra has received from the international spirits community – what a start to 2019 it has been,” said Volcan di mi Tierra’s President and CEO, Trent Fraser. “A tremendous amount of time and support was spent developing both expressions. We experimented with yeast variations, agave selection and multiple cask maturations before settling on the final blends. We made some bold choices and are thrilled to be considered amongst the best in class. We look forward to much more room for growth in this explosive and exciting category.”

Volcan De Mi Terra, which takes its name from the pre-historic volcano that shaped the landscape from which tequila region’s expansive agave fields now grow, is a celebration of provenance and legacy. The hand-crafted spirit pays homage to Jalisco’s unique terroir by blending 100% blue agave from the low- and high-lands – an industry first. Volcan’s distillery sits at the base of the volcano and is home to a distinctive distilling process that combines history and tradition.

Volcan De Mi Tierra Blanco delivers an austere and herbaceous flavor spectrum from the lowlands agave, blended with finesse, citrus and floral notes of the highlands. The Blanco can be enjoyed mixed into cocktails or served neat. Volcan De Mi Tierra Cristalino is an Anejo, aged for many months with different cask finishes, with the color extracted. While a clear liquid, the taste still delivers incredible depth, richness and complexity of an aged tequila, which is best appreciated neat or over ice.

Volcan De Mi Tierra Blanco and Volcan De Mi Tierra Cristalino are available to taste at fine restaurants and bars that respect the craft of the cocktail. For more information and updates please follow @VolcanTequila on Instagram.
