Lonerider Spirits, a growing local distillery that crafts spirits for outlaws by outlaws was awarded a gold medal this week by the American Distilling Institute (ADI) for their bourbon whiskey finished in sherry casks.

Medals awarded by the American Distilling Institute are judged by a mixture of distillers, wholesalers, importers, retailers, bartenders, educators, and journalists/writers. The scoring of spirits is based on a 100-point system and each judge assigns an overall score which is correlated to a medal recommendation or no medal recommendation for each spirit.

“We are extremely excited about bringing this medal home to our fellow outlaws in Holly Springs and in the great state of North Carolina,” says Chris Mielke, President of Lonerider Spirits. “We’re flattered that our peers in the industry have acknowledged that we are working hard to bring our award-winning heritage in brewing to the world of craft spirits. Our team is working hard to get this exceptional bourbon to as many ABC stores, bars and restaurants as possible. We couldn’t have done this alone, so we also want to thank our many partners that helped us get this spirit to market.”

Lonerider Spirits also won a bronze medal from the ACSA (American Craft Spirits Association) in February for whiskey at their annual awards.
